Lynch has a rather creepy imagination, yet it also leads one to believe that she's also unable to fully commit to her wildest ideas. Otherwise, avoid that intensely maddening plot twist at all costs not only is it the easiest one to think up, requiring nothing but a quick scene at a story or film's end that needs no connections to all that preceded it, but it's also a foolproof way to waste the precious time of everyone involved, namely the readers/viewers. Really, wtf, why would anyone think it's a good idea to make 90% of the movie be a dream when it could have worked just fine as reality?Īnyway, since so many ok movies are getting unnecessary remakes, this is one that should be looked into. Also the retarded dream ending makes the whole movie completely pointless. This is considered a really bad movie, but if it was directed by someone a bit more skillful and if the story was explored a little better, it could have been really good. Then the doctor wakes up and it was all a dream, Helena is in the hospital and she will be fine (no amputations, he called the ambulance and then fell asleep.) Then they start to bond and everything is going smoothly and both are happy until her ex boyfriend breaks in to set her free, but she decides she wants to stay. She is now even more pissed at him so eventually he amputates her arms as well. The doctor takes her to his house and amputates both of her legs and then keeps her trapped. She walks out on the street not looking and a car hits her and drives away. After she is injured in a grievous hit-and-run motor vehicle accident in front of his home, he kidnaps and treats her in his house surreptitiously, amputating both of her legs. The guy tries to get Helena to date him and they have an argument in front of his house. Nick Cavanaugh (Julian Sands) is a lonely Atlanta surgeon obsessed with a woman named Helena (Sherilyn Fenn). Helena is incredibly good looking and a total bitch. The movie is about a very spineless and pathetic doctor who is obsessed with Helena.
